Jewellery made from re’cycled’ bicycle inner tubes

Eco Jeweller Julie Linn launches her new ‘Rubberfly’ collection at British Craft Trade Fair in Harrogate this weekend 11-13th April, followed by the UK AWARE ethical lifestyle show in London 16/17th April. Julie’s work has been selected by online eco boutique Pure Design (www.puredesigncompany.co.uk), and ethical stylist Lupe Castro, for inclusion in UK AWARE’s catwalk show (10.30am Saturday 17th). Julie’s Rubberfly and Gothic choker collection will be showcased alongside clothes by top British ethical fashion brands.

Available to order from 1st May online, Julie’s Summer 2010 range ‘Rubberfly’ features silhouetted rubber butterflies suspended from a silver multi-hoop necklace with matching drop earrings. Admirers of Julie Linn’s jewellery expressed their disbelief when they first learnt the humble roadside origins of the jewellery. The handmade and unique collection includes a necklace, earrings and ring, retailing for £60-120.00, £35.00 and £60.00 respectively.

Environmentally conscientious and innovative jeweller Julie Linn is constantly working with unusual materials to create contemporary and semi-precious necklaces, earrings and rings. In 2009 she designed a range of on-trend gothic chokers made from layers of laser cut paper and leather. Julie has recently released a range of summer chokers laser cut from flower seed paper. 100% biodegradable, these plantable necklaces, continue to be a thing of beauty and source of enjoyment even when they are dead and buried!

Julie is an innovative jewellery designer. Her designs recognise the transient nature of fashion and offer customers an affordable and sustainable alternative, allowing them to reinvent and recycle their look with every new season. Julie explores the use of multiples and materials, as can be seen in her multi-layered gothic chokers and hooped silver and Rubberfly design. Julie's has even crafted her chokers from newspaper and they were quite literally tomorrow's news!
